IMS Robotic Drain Cutting
Cutting through concrete, roots and intrusions without digging.
We run IMS robotic cutting equipment to deal with the blockages a jetter can’t touch: set concrete, grout, steel rebar, intruding pipe joints and heavy root mass.
The cutter is guided by a live CCTV camera and controlled from ground level, so the obstruction is milled out inside the pipe. No excavation, no broken slab, no guesswork.

What is robotic drain cutting?
A trenchless method where a high-powered cutting head, guided by CCTV, goes into the drain through a manhole or access point. It grinds, mills or slices through solid obstructions so the pipe can be used, lined or patched.
Ideal for
- Concrete or grout left in pipes after building work
- Intruding pipe joints or lateral connections
- Steel rebar or metal fragments inside the drain
- Thick, stubborn tree root intrusions
- Preparing pipes before lining or patching
- Failed liners or collapsed liner ends
Trusted by contractors
Concrete in a drain on a new-build site doesn’t have to mean breaking out a finished slab. Our IMS cutter saves time, money and the programme.
Our process
- 01
CCTV survey
We inspect the blockage to confirm its location and what it is made of.
- 02
Cutter deployment
The IMS machine goes in through a manhole or access point.
- 03
Precision cutting
The cutter head is controlled remotely to grind, mill or slice through the obstruction.
- 04
Final inspection
A follow-up camera survey confirms the pipe is clear and ready for repair, lining or use.
